The Jerwood New Work Fund offered targeted project funding for early-career artists, makers, curators and producers who have recently completed a Jerwood Arts supported development programme. It was designed to channel our support to artists coming through our programmes at a pivotal moment to secure the partners, venues and funding to green light their new ideas and realise their ambitions on their own terms. The fund enables artists to be bold and take risks, to complete exceptional work and connect it with a public audience as they seek to establish their practices.
The progamme ran for two rounds: in 2022, we selected 24 projects from early-career artists, makers, curators, and producers, and in 2023, we selected a further 19 projects. The awarded artists represent some of the most exciting breakthrough talent across the UK, spanning a variety of artforms including theatre, music, installation, live art, sonic art, visual arts and circus.
The current round of awardees are working on projects that will lead to a live or online exhibition, performance, publication or installation across the UK from Belfast to Blackpool to Battersea, as well as online by the end of 2025.
