(Team) Work in Practice: In-Person Workshop

Book onto a half-day workshop to experience the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries Toolkit in action. This workshop is being co-hosted by The Work Room, a former Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries host organisation.

Following the launch of (Team) Work In Practice: Collective insights, ideas, and challenges to drive socio-economic inclusivity in your organisation, workshops will be held across the UK for people in the cultural sector to put the ideas of the Toolkit into practice.

These workshops will give organisations the opportunity to:

  • deepen their understanding of socio-economic inclusivity
  • work through examples and share ideas on approaches to inclusivity
  • consider how the ideas in the Toolkit could apply to their organisation
  • meet other organisations within a community of learning and accountability

The workshops are designed and facilitated by six Toolkit Associates, all of whom have been Fellows on the WJCB programme, in collaboration with Jerwood Arts and people make it work.

We are delighted to be partnering with a range of venues to host a number of in person workshops and there are online options available to increase reach and accessibility.

Who are the workshops for?

The workshops are aimed at people working in arts and cultural organisations, especially decision-makers and people managers. However, individuals who are committed to making their work more inclusive are more than welcome.

We would encourage medium and large scale organisations to book more than one member of staff onto the workshops, as in our experience this will better enable positive change to be embedded. We’re particularly keen to see HR professionals alongside senior colleagues.

How much do the workshops cost?

Workshop bookings come with a minimum donation, depending on the size of your organisation.

  • For those with £1m turnover or above the minimum donation amount is £60
  • For those with less than £1m turnover the minimum donation amount is £30
  • For freelancers the minimum donation amount  is £15.

If you are in a position to pay more then please do. Your additional contribution will go towards future events and workshops to spread the key messages of the toolkit, and to subsidised places for those not able to pay.

If anyone is not able to pay the minimum donation but feels the workshop would be beneficial to them and their organisation, there are subsidised places available.

What is (Team) Work in Practice?

Over 2020-2022, the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries programme supported 50 salaried jobs in arts and cultural organisations across the UK, for individuals from working class/low socio-economic backgrounds. This new Toolkit has been created using the insights and experiences of the Fellows and Alumni of this programme to create actionable ideas for cultural leaders to drive inclusivity in their organisations.

(Team) Work In Practice: Collective insights, ideas, and challenges to drive socio-economic inclusivity in your organisation is for employers and decision-makers in the arts and cultural sector, as well as policy-makers, funders, and all those who are interested in understanding what inclusion means in practice.
