PERFORMANCE: BXBY

21 Jun 2022

6-8pm

Forma, Peveril Garden Studios, 140 Great Dover St , London, SE1 4GW

To coincide with summer solstice, the longest day of the year, Soojin Chang has devised a durational performance in collaboration with artist, DJ, sage and Daoist practitioner Georgie (Rei-n) Lo which responds to themes of land relations, object/subject relations, psychogeography, animist methodology, ritual as technology, and the human-animal in BXBY, their commission for the Jerwood/FVU Awards 2022.

The ritual is a performance of belonging that speaks through technosomatic language to ask land gods for partnership in land redistribution. The artists greet the building of Forma as a being. They perform a continuous rebalancing exchange of power forces to acknowledge, dissolve, and release the oppression of objecthood through trans-animist methodology.

This event is supported by Jerwood Arts, Film and Video Umbrella for the Jerwood/FVU Awards 2022 and is being delivered in collaboration with Forma.
