For this Jerwood Staging Series 2022 event, commissioned artist collaboration Beau W Beakhouse & Sadia Pineda Hameed present new performance Link Rot.
Set in the decaying public settings of cyber cafes, net-laundrettes and computer suites, Link Rot is a performance on the possibilities of decomposition, labour in cognitive capitalism and the blogosphere. Performing at two desktop computers, both artists will inhabit the forgotten spaces of connectivity navigating technostalgia and broken hypertext.
This event is free to attend, book now.
About Beau W Beakhouse and Sadia Pineda Hameed
Beau W Beakhouse and Sadia Pineda Hameed are a collaborative duo based in Cardiff, Wales, whose practice dramatises, reconstructs and reenacts autonomous and alternate futures.
Their work often takes the form of speculation, resistance and site-building at the intersection of performance and installation. In particular they continuously engage with text and the archive, undoing and disassembling relationships between language and colonialism; and unfolding processes of decay and disassembly as alternatives to western models of preservation. They look to revivification, working against the static categories of institutional models.
They have shown with Bluecoat, The Mosaic Rooms, Brent Biennial, g39, Chapter Arts Centre, MOSTYN, Arcade/Campfa, g39 and Gentle/Radical; and have recently been in residence with Tangent Projects (Barcelona), Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto (Biella), Catalyst Arts (Belfast) and ZAMEK Institute (Poznań). They were part of the g39 Jerwood UNITe 2021 cohort and are currently on the g39 Freelands Fellowship 2022-24. beauwbeakhouse.com sadiaph.com
