To celebrate the launch of our new Survey II publication and the final day of the exhibition in London, we are inviting writers Angela YT Chan, Leo Hermitt and Elise Bell to share readings of their responses to the artist’s commissions in a special tour of the exhibition. Attendees will receive a free copy of the publication and will be welcome to join us for drinks and conversation after the tour.
The Survey II publication invites ten artists, writers and curators from across the UK to respond to individual works in the exhibition. It features new writing from Elise Bell, Angela YT Chan, Cairo Clarke, Leo Hermitt, Dylan Huw, Eliel Jones, Thomas Moore, Helen Nisbet, Jamila Prowse and Kandace Siobhan Walker; alongside a collaborative essay by the three curators Harriet Cooper, Head of Visual Arts at Jerwood Arts, Anthony Shapland, Creative Director at g39, and Angelica Sule, Programme Director at Site Gallery.
Survey II is a major touring exhibition led by Jerwood Arts that presents new commissions by ten of the most outstanding early-career artists in the UK. It spans a breadth of disciplines including photography, sculpture, sound, textile, film and installation, providing a distinctive snapshot of current artistic concerns and approaches.
Originally established in 2018, this second edition continues to take a non-institutional approach to selection by inviting over 30 leading artists from across the UK to nominate who they think are the most exciting and dynamic early-career artists making work today: Saelia Aparicio, Tereza Červeňová, Sadé Mica, Rebecca Moss, Cinzia Mutigli, Shenece Oretha, Katarzyna Perlak, Tako Taal, Nicolaas van de Lande, Angharad Williams.
