The £660,000 Live Work Fund is supporting 33 exceptional individuals over 12 months with awards of £20,000 to adapt their approach to making and sharing live work. The selected artists, creatives and producers have no more than ten years’ experience, are based across the UK and their practice pre-Covid-19 focused and relied on live performance.
The Live Work Fund is designed to help prevent exceptional talent of all backgrounds from abandoning the development of their practice due to the impact of Covid-19 and create the space for reflection and experimentation. It will provide substantial support throughout 2021 to enable the selected artists, creatives and producers to take the time to think imaginatively about how they can adapt their professional practice and make a vital contribution to the future of their wider artistic community.
Awardees will also be supported by Jerwood Arts expert staff for advice and introductions, and established mentors will be available to support career development, answer discipline-specific questions and signpost opportunities.
The selected artists for Live Work Fund 2021 are anaiis, Andrea Ling, Carmel Smickersgill, Cassie Kinoshi, Cassie Leon, Connor Allen, Craig McCorquodale, Dickson Mbi, Eliza Shaddad, Figs In Wigs, Geoff Kirkwood, Jamal Gerald, Jen Smethurst, Jennifer Jackson, Jo Hauge, John Pfumojena, Karina Jones, Louise Ahl, Martha Hill, Mo’min Swaitat, Munotida Chinyanga, Na’ama Zisser, Nabihah Iqbal, Nassy Konan, Nwando Ebizie, Otis Mensah, Rachael Young, Rhys Slade Jones, Rosie Elnile, Solem Quartet, Tangram, Yewande YoYo Odunubi and Zinzi Minott.

Submissions for the Live Work Fund were reviewed by Jerwood Arts’ staff and Artist Advisers, before the final decisions were made by a selection panel comprising: five established artists and Jerwood Arts staff – Lilli Geissendorfer, Director, Jon Opie, Deputy Director and Sarah Gibbon, Project Manager.
