Over three years, Jerwood Jazz Encounters will offer eight jazz artists intensive support to develop their knowledge and understanding of presenting music in unusual spaces and new formats, culminating in eight newly-commissionioned works. Artist support will also include R&D and mentoring bursaries, an action learning set and a creative ‘hackathon’.
Oxford Contemporary Music and Sage Gateshead are partnering with Cheltenham Festivals to co-produce and host the commissions. The Space will offer specialist support to artists making digital projects as Digital Partner. Birmingham City University is partnering on the hackathon.
The four artists for 2020/21 are: Elliot Galvin, Faye MacCalman, Lara Jones and Witch ‘n’ Monk. There will be another call for entries in 2021.
