Today we start the search for a new Director for Jerwood Charitable Foundation; a once in a decade activity to date. After eight fantastic and enormously fond years leading the organisation, I’m going to be moving on in October 2017.
I’ll be joining the GLA and the Mayor of London, heading up the culture and creative industries unit in the new role of Assistant Director, Culture and Creative Industries. I’m really looking forward to taking all I’ve had the privilege of learning at Jerwood Charitable Foundation and turning it to the huge cultural challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for London, a city I’m so passionate about. It will be a real wrench to leave the team and our work, but I know they’ll benefit enormously from the new perspective, contacts and ideas of my successor.
I’m also delighted to announce that Jon Opie, Jerwood Charitable Foundation’s former General Manager, has accepted the new role of Deputy Director, recognising his outstanding contribution to the organisation and the key role he will play at Jerwood Charitable Foundation during this transitional period.
It has been an immense pleasure and privilege to have worked with the people and projects that I have been able to during my time here and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to our goals and impact to date. This is quite simply one of the best jobs there is, in an organisation that starts and ends with artists and their potential, and is positive, ambitious and genuinely unique. More information about the recruitment of JCF’s new Director can be found here. Please do spread the word and help the organisation to find the candidate it needs to take it forward into its third decade of activity.
