The winner of the JMK Award 2022 is Indiana Lown-Collins with her production of The Solid Life of Sugar Water by Jack Thorne, presented in partnership with the Orange Tree Theatre. Indiana will work with designer and Weston Jerwood Creatives Bursaries Fellow Ica Niemz on the production.
The production forms part of Artistic Director Paul Miller’s final season at the venue and opens on 19 October, with previews from 15 October, and runs until 12 November.
Ica was a Design Assistant at Wildworks in Redruth, Cornwall as part of the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries and we are excited to see them take this next step in their career.
The JMK Trust commemorates James Menzies-Kitchin, a theatre director with thrilling promise who died suddenly at the age of 28 in 1996. Through the James Menzies-Kitchin Young Director Award (The JMK Award), which encourages others in the same spirit of enterprise, vision and inspiration. The JMK Trust also work with directors of all ages across the country through their National Programme of free workshops, residencies and Assistant Director Bursaries.
