Jerwood Visual Arts is a national programme supporting visual arts practice, through which Jerwood Charitable Foundation works with early career artists to commission and present new work. Artist opportunities run throughout the year alongside a programme of related exhibitions, events and commissioned writing, taking place online, in London and across the UK. We advocate for the best possible conditions for the making of art by providing well-resourced opportunities for artists, supported by our staff team and established artists, writers, critics and curators who have a significant national or international profile.
Harriet Cooper joins Jerwood Charitable Foundation from Firstsite in Colchester where she is Programme Manager for Exhibitions and Events, responsible for developing and curating the artistic programme of exhibitions, projects, screenings and events.
Prior to this she was Curator for Visual Arts at the British Council and co-curator of Phyllida Barlow’s commission for the British Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. Previous roles include managing the International Touring Exhibitions Programme at the British Council where she organised projects across the globe including exhibitions in India, South Korea, Israel, Mexico and Serbia. She has worked at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Tate Liverpool and The Whitworth Art Gallery and has an MA in Contemporary Curating from Manchester Metropolitan University.
