Karina was registered blind at the age of thirteen but has not let this discourage her from pursuing a career in performance. In 2012, she answered a call out for disabled artists to perform in the Paralympics Opening Ceremony. This is where she fell in love with aerial circus. She then furthered her training at Green Top Circus and has since performed as an aerialist with companies such as Extraordinary Bodies, Rogue Play, she has also performed as solo aerialist at the Cerebral Palsy World Games Opening Ceremony and with The British Paraorchestra at Colston Hall. Most recently, she was commissioned by Unlimited and Arts Council Wales to create her piece Aerial Sicilienne.
Karina looks forward to developing new and exciting work in 2021 and will be using the Live Work Fund to continue and develop her aerial practice. The Live Work Fund will also enable her to research into creative audio description for physical art such as circus and aerial work.
