Using intimacy and closeness in her practice she positions herself in her work as a political stance. From Jacqueline’s peripheral position she questions the legitimacy of the idea of objectivity and the dominant viewpoint.
Jacqueline had her first solo show in February 2020 ‘This Moment of Being’ at PS2, Belfast. The exhibition was the culmination of her ACES Award, supported by the Arts Council Northern Ireland and in partnership with LUX. Having originally worked at LUX, she moved to Belfast in 2010 to re-position herself and focus on her art practice. She has exhibited in Belfast, London, Nice and Dublin.
Jacqueline’s Jerwood Bursary will be instrumental in developing a mentoring relationship in order to unpack the role and conditions of the artist. She will explore the institutional, social and personal barriers to participation in contemporary practice.
