She has been commissioned by a number of organisations including the Mayor of London, Photoworks, Artichoke and Tate Exchange, and was nominated for the 2018 Sky Arts South Bank Breakthrough Award.
The Jerwood New Work Fund will support Heather to make a step-change from visual arts practice into performance, through the research and development of new work The Body Remembers. The work is a performance piece which investigates where trauma lives in the body and how people normalise related behaviours. This work will question how hyper-visibility and hostile spaces impact on our bodies and require them to conform, and the ways in which we heal from this using our bodies as guides. The performance will use projection, soundscapes and verbatim to explore how performer and artist can reach catharsis.
