Benjamin’s Jerwood Bursary will enable him to develop his writing for analogue synthesisers and operatic voices. He will undertake a period of research and exploration at Studio 6, London, experimenting with the studio’s vast collection of instruments, which will culminate in collaboration with singers Ella Taylor and Héloïse Werner.

Benjamin’s composition will focus on exploratory work for an upcoming ecological opera with poet Jacqueline Saphra, developed previously with Wild Plum Arts on a Britten Pears Foundation residency.
